Spring-operated brakes

Electromagnetically released spring-operated and permanent magnet brakes function on the fail-safe principle, i.e. brake torque is applied when electrically dead. These brakes are mainly used as holding devices on motors as well as wherever masses in motion need to be braked. Permanent-magnet brakes are particularly favoured for use in highly dynamic applications.
